A Grand New Masterpiece at Kew Ong Yah Temple(Upper Serangoon)– “Laozi Went out of Hangu Pass”, a Copper Engraving Artwork.

On 20 August 2025, Kew Ong Yah Temple(Upper Serangoon) unveiled a magnificent copper engraving artwork – “Laozi Went out of Hangu Pass”

This extraordinary artwork was specially commissioned from craftsmen in Hebei, China, funded with SGD 200,000. Measuring 18 metres in length and 8 metres in height, the artwork took eight months to complete, a true testament to exquisite craftsmanship and devotion.

In Taoist tradition, “Laozi Went out of Hangu Pass” carries profound symbolism. It represents the transmission of the Dao beyond the Hangu Pass, spreading its wisdom across the world. By establishing this copper engraving artwork in Singapore, Kew Ong Yah Temple(Upper Serangoon) reaffirms its mission to preserve and promote Taoist teachings in the region and beyond.
