Cihang Zhenren
Cihang Zhenren: That is the Buddhist Guanyin Bodhisattva. Folks believe that it protects women and children and helps pregnant women give birth smoothly, so they often call it “Guanyin Guanyin”, which shows the prosperity of its folk belief. Among the people, the female image of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is very prominent, and she is often revered as “Avalokitesvara Mother”. And because Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has already become a Buddha in the past, but only appeared as a Bodhisattva to help the world and save people, she is often revered as “Avalokitesvara Buddha”. Chinese believers believe that Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is famous for his compassion, and the Great Master is the subordinate (or incarnation) of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Therefore, the Great Master holds the statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva on his head and is responsible for saving people during the Ghost Festival. , giving alms to the souls wandering in the world of the dead.
The Eight Immortals
The Eight Immortals are a group of immortals in Chinese mythology. Each immortal has a magical weapon that can bring the dead back to life or slay demons. These magical weapons put together are also called the Eight Dark Immortals. Most of the Eight Immortals are said to have lived during the Tang and Song Dynasties. They were absorbed into Taoism and are also extremely popular gods in Chinese secular culture. They are said to live together on five fairy islands in the Bohai Sea, one of which is the famous Penglai Island.
Tieguai Li:He is always leaning on a cane and holding a gourd. He is the King of Medicine in the eyes of the people.
Zhong Liquan:The image is of a middle-aged man holding a fan, which is a symbol of wealth.
Lan Caihe:Shanyinlu’s image is a young boy carrying a flower basket. He is also the God of Flowers.
Zhang Guolao:A long-lived old man who lived in the 7th and 8th centuries AD. He held a donkey in one hand and a fishing drum in the other, which is a symbol of longevity.
He Xiangu:It is a female fairy who is said to have lived in the late 7th century. She is holding a lotus or a basket of flowers, sometimes peaches and a whisk.
Lu Dongbin:Born in 755 AD, he became an immortal in 805 AD. His image is that of a long-bearded scholar, carrying a sword on his back, which he uses to slay demons.
Han Xiangzi:It is said that he is the nephew of Han Yu, a famous writer in the Tang Dynasty. He is the god of music with his flute.
Uncle Cao Guo:It is said that the royal family members of the Song Dynasty always brought a castanet or wat board with them to attend court. He also thinks he is the god of drama.
